BATT AND MINERAL WOOL INSTALLED BY A TRADE PARTNER GENERAL CONTRACTORS ALREADY TRUST ACROSS MARYLAND, DC, AND VIRGINIA.
If you’re comparing commercial insulation contractors for an upcoming project, we’re happy to show you our track record. Cindell Construction provides commercial insulation services as a specialty subcontractor, the same way we’ve delivered metal framing and drywall to general contractors since 1980. We install both batt and mineral wool on projects throughout Maryland, DC, and Virginia.
BATT AND MINERAL WOOL INSULATION
Cindell installs two primary insulation materials on commercial projects: batt insulation and mineral wool.
At a glance, here’s what each material contributes to a commercial building’s performance:
// SOUNDPROOFING
Mineral wool’s density gives it a natural advantage in sound isolation work, while batt still cuts down on sound transfer in a standard wall assembly.
// THERMAL PERFORMANCE
Both materials slow heat transfer through the building envelope, which helps a finished space hold its temperature and use less energy to heat and cool.
// FIRE RESISTANCE
Mineral wool is non-combustible, which is why it shows up so often in fire-rated wall and ceiling assemblies.
BATT INSULATION
Batt insulation remains the most common commercial wall insulation choice for standard stud cavities. Made from fiberglass or mineral fiber formed into pre-cut panels that fit snugly between studs and joists, this material fills the cavity completely. We install it to the R-value called for in the project specifications, coordinating closely with our metal framing and drywall teams so the wall assembly comes together in the right order.
MINERAL WOOL INSULATION
Mineral wool insulation is made from spun basalt rock or slag fiber, and it’s the material our crews turn to when a project calls for something more than standard thermal performance. It’s naturally non-combustible, so it withstands high heat, and its density makes it one of the better-performing materials available for blocking sound between rooms and floors. We install it in the fire-rated and sound-rated assemblies our commercial projects most often call for.

FIRE-RESISTANT INSULATION
Commercial buildings answer to specific fire codes. Their insulation plays a big part. Mineral wool is non-combustible by nature, so where a project’s plans call for a fire-resistant insulation assembly, it’s often the material specified.
No insulation material is entirely fireproof, but mineral wool comes closer than most. It withstands extremely high temperatures without igniting or feeding a fire. In short, it’s safe. That’s why it’s such a widely specified material in commercial construction. We install it to the fire-rated assembly details a project’s plans call for.

ENERGY-EFFICIENT THERMAL INSULATION
The energy efficiency starts with getting the thermal insulation right at the framing stage. Batt and mineral wool both contribute to an assembly’s overall R-value, a rating that determines a building’s energy code compliance.
Cindell installs thermal insulation to the R-value specified for every applicable part of a building. For projects with a specified air and vapor barrier component, we coordinate our insulation work directly with that install so the two systems perform together.
